Response to, " Pepsi's New Ad is a Total Success"

Is this ad a total success or is the government a total shit show and they are shining a light on it in a playful manor? Yes, it gets the attention to the viewer because it is presenting a vert relevant issue in todays society but is it truly necessary to insight politics in a soda commercial? Move over, I think it is little disturbing the fact that Pepsi and Coke have a competition to create similar ads for there consumers to buy or "vote" for there product like they are some type of campaign or something. Maybe I'm being biased because I am a non- soda drinker but I think that the way they define Success could be more looked at as maybe more relevant in todays down turning society through politics.

5 video artist response

Bruce Nauman:
This artist takes very simplistic and basic ideas and movements looked at and reevaluated in different ways. It's very interesting because his pieces usually go on for hours and it is meant to be so that the viewer can leave and come back while the piece is still going on.

Peter Campus:
Campus seems to take a more abstract approach rather than a realistic one. Once again this artist is looking at human form but is distorting it in different manners. One of my favorites is, three Transitions, on youtube and I found it very interesting how it is a figure distorting itself in one way or another.

Joan Jonas:
This female video artist has more of an objective while creating her videos for example she uses feminism and other female gestures. She used herself in her own projects and creating alter egos of herself in these films. She, unlike the two other artists uses her artist ability to involve drawings as well.

Bill Viola:
Violas piece is something that I found significantly different. It used one figure in most of his pieces and what seemed to be a progression of movement as time went on with a source of water or wind. The figures are assumed to be human but hold qualities of abstraction and un humanlike movements, like levitation. The raft, was an interesting piece that showed everyday people and then immersing them in water at a torturous way.

Andy Worhol:
The famous artist had a very opposite outlook on everything he did in life that reflected his pieces. He looks at everyday actions as an artistic gift. His art all are reproductions of everyday thinks like soda and thought large scale impact was very affective. for example him eating a hamburger and a video of it.

Rough Sketch about final Project

-My Idea for the final Assignment is to do a comparison in a way about what Sorority life is in comparison to what Art School is and kind of a misconception corrector about what people think Sorority life is like and what it actually is.
-Use a go pro in public scenes
-All from my perspective
-As if putting other people in my shoes

Step Two of the five year plan

The second step:

3 important time periods:

            August 1, 2022:

Today I am preparing for the second anniversary of my job as a college art professor at Drexel University. It is rather sunny and happy outside today but my apartment is a mess and my laundry needs to be done, this weekend was a doozy. I am still in shock that I scored this beautiful gem in university city above a Starbucks. This studio is perfect for myself and my artwork it’s all I need. My Parents are all happy and shiny considering they got back together since there divorce (hmm ok). They are moving to Europe next week and I am kind of okay with it because it gives me more of a reason to go over there and see them. All I really need is my sister whom is in New York City so that’s pretty cool.  Anyways, I am teaching a painting foundations course and hopefully my students are normal, but its art school so really who is normal??
Update, I am halfway through my day and one of co- workers is OH SO HANDSOME. I cannot stop staring at him he is so dreamy. Maybe he will realize me progressively through the semester but I’m in that point in my life where I simply don’t give a shit about men J
Today was something different and little questionable, still love working in the city but I like to think of myself as a wanderlust kind of person. Staying in one place for too long makes me anxious and I think its time to switch things up.

            May 12, 2023:

Woah today is a big day. Today the spring semester is coming to an end and that means a lot of things for me. One of them means I am moving out of the country today. This day has been lingering for quite some while now but I never knew how speedy today would come. It has been a year since my sister has picked up and moved to Rome. She is working for a marketing company that she thriving very successfully in. I got accepted to work overseas as a college professor at the Temple Campus teaching painting. This is a dream come true and something I never expected to be happening.
On the flight to my new home along with my bags that were overweight (clearly). I am ready to start my new life that’s a given. I am also little tipsy considering I just got goodbye drinks with my three best friends. They have already made plans to come see me over thanksgiving which I am looking forward too greatly.
Touching down in my new home is giving me crazy butterfly’s in my tummy or maybe ravenous birds because am so excited t be with my sister and be across the world doing what we do best. I never thought in a billion years that my sister and I would score jobs at the same place doing what we both love oh so much.

November 16, 2025:

Woah, are you not sensing a reoccurring relapse of my spontaneous living tactics. Yes, you guessed it in contrary to my prior independent life mantras I am indeed getting married. I found myself a kind nice European man. I have been living with him for one year now and he proposed to me on the rooftop of a beautiful restaurant last evening with a diamond that someone could spot from miles away.
In contrary to my happiness and my sister’s approval, my parents have yet to meet my Fiancé. Whoops, like they even care they have been traveling around China and Australia these last couple of months. The holidays are coming up soon and although they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Europe we are celebrating it with my sister and her husband as well.
Let’s hope my spur-of-the-moment mind set is in my favor.

Xoxo

Step one: 5 year plan

In five years I will hopefully be in attendance of grad school getting my Masters of Fine arts to become a professor teaching Painting studios. Furthermore, financially if I am stable enough, I would like to establish a career in a city or down south, in Florida. Being a successful professor at a college, with a side job being an artist living in a studio apartment somewhere in a city would be the most ideal destination for my 5 year plan.

Response to Homework number 5

First off being not politically well- rounded and not keeping up with the regular news on a basis, seeing the opinion page being a featured thing in the New York Times is very interesting to me. However, the article itself was a good read and brought back the memories of my freshman year when I took communication courses and learned about the media in extensive lengths. People comparing Trump to, Guy Debord's "The Society of Spectacle" is an interesting take on a view of politics because it is comparing media to everyday things like technology, which of course we all have our own perspectives on.

Response to Homework number 4

After watching the font video and recognizing how much fonts impact peoples lives and what it goes into the creation and having knowledge about the placement of where these fonts go and what thought goes into it; made me more conscious to how it really does affect your life. Reading articles about how it changes your mood and how it compels you to continue reading or to stop opened my eyes to how real that accusation really is. Being told that Times New Roman is the only official font that you have to use under any professional measure is something I convinced myself since Middle school when making Resumes or essays. Being an Art major changing the font on your resume is something that probably is not frowned upon and when looking into it, it may convince your employer to enjoy it more.

Cosmo model AD

Response to " Everybody is altered"

The Article called, "Everybody is Altered" was written to discuss the behind the camera alterations that are taken place to modify actors and actresses. This epidemic of altering the appearances of actors and actresses are becoming less of an art and more of a lifestyle that is becoming more influential and impacting the youth of todays society. Eating disorders and body image have been around and evident for years but todays day and age it is more apparent because the expectation of the world have been raised to unthinkable and almost impossible standards. Movies use special affects to an impressive level but now they are retouching a little zit or even a love handle on an actor and actress. This is starting to affect teens because they want more and more to look like these famous people which is disturbing because celebrities don't even look like this now-a-days. I think that everyone should except themselves for who they are and know that its about your acting ability not how beautiful and skinny you are.

"Alternative Facts" response

In response to the " 'Alternative facts:' The Needless Lies of the Trump Administration. Tump lies multiple times in his speeches and tries to us different variation of the term "lying" to hide is obnoxious remarks. My question is was it really necessary to lie about the amount to people who attended is inauguration or who watched it? The pictures he took pretending to write his speech was also irrelevant and I am curious to see his motive for that.

Trumps image is already compromised with the horrendous changes that he already is acting upon so why is it that he is making his self look even worse by lying about, as the article says, "minuscule," things so whats he going to lie about next?

Photoshop assignment 1

" My So- Called Opinions" Response

When reading Zachary Fines article titled, "My So- Called Opinions" I found it to be rather divided amongst millennials and non millennials and their perspective about diversity and opinion based comments. He states his views and his idea of pluralism, meaning the recognition of differences. I find personally that millennials are more knowledgeable about todays issues and are more educated from the less educated older generations. Yes, we are engulfed in social media and cell phones and other technology but in my perspective that makes us more with todays political drama as well as with the worldly issues. Overall, millennials are usually silenced based on being younger and being overshadowed by the "wiser" older generations.

Quotidian Project

For my Quotidian project I was inspired by the artist On Kawara who would create art with a specific date on a surface. At first I was baffled at how something so simplistic could be considered art but then it let me to consider how important the date and the time truly is to our society and to our generation today. Every single day our agendas are based around setting an alarm clock in the morning or writing the date at the top of our papers or preparing an assignment due on a certain date at a certain time. These things engulf us and if we didn't have clocks or a way to document history the world would be chaos! Therefore for my Quotidian project I would like to write the date and the time on 48 different surfaces every 3 days for the next 16 weeks and in the end create a time lapse over this span of where I wrote each thing.
